Spreading Happiness through Art and painting
Shefali first started teaching art to 3 students from her neighbourhood in a tiny apartment in Mumbai in 1988. Fast forward to 2018, her art classes, Shefali’s Art Classes are attended by more than 500 students at her various centres in Mumbai and more than 30,000 students have learnt from her. She also has centres in Pune and various workshops for all age groups. There are more than 10 dedicated artists in her team and Shefali continues to give her organisation new heights. She is also regularly called to judge art events every year for college festivals in Mumbai including but not limited to Umang and Kshitij.
She has won 2 international awards and 28 national awards so far for teaching art. She is also a member of the National Art Educators Association (NAEA) – a global association for art educators all over the world- and attends conventions of the same. She has also been a lecturer for Fine Arts at J.D. school of Design in Mumbai. Apart from the laurels achieved in the field of art, Shefali is also a poet and has had her works published in Gujarati newspapers and magazines. Along with tie ups with NGOs, Shefali is a dedicated social worker, taking up social work projects on her own as well. Since the last 25 years, she has been teaching art to underprivileged children and since the last 2 years, providing therapeutic art workshops for children battling with cancer.
Through her incessant devotion in the field since the last 30 years, Shefali has come up with unique, innovative techniques to tap into the creativity of an individual. It is these unique ideas and an ingenious yet genuine way of working that sets her apart from the mainstream Art teachers in Mumbai. She believes each and every one is creative and that the benefits of art should reach as many people as possible. Smiles on the faces of her students keeps her motivated to do more.
